Liar's Dice
Made famous by The Pirate's of the Caribbean movie
Objective:
This drinking game was seen on Pirate's of the Caribbean and the point of this game is to lie your booty off. You and the other players must roll your dice, hide them, and take turns lying about what's underneath. Important thing to remember is you must take into account everyone's dice on the table. Choose wisely!
What You Need:
4 Players or more
5 Dice for each player
Cups for your Dice (optional)
5 Dice for each player
Cups for your Dice (optional)
How To Play:
This game starts by everyone rolling their dice but no one reveals their die!
Decide who will go first and they will start the game by making a "bet and a guess" like this:
The goal is to be mindful of all the die on the table. You are trying to guess the least amount of die you think have been rolled on the table.
"I bet 1 drink there are at least 2 sixes on the table"
If no one at the table thinks you're lying, the next player goes and makes they bid and guess.
If some one calls bluff and they were lying. The liar has to drink the bid and they lose one of their dice!
If someone calls bluff and the person was not lying. The person or persons who called bluff have to drink and also lose 1 of their dice.
"I bet 3 drinks there are at least 3 ones on the table"
This might be confusing at first so be careful with explaining these rules.
The next player to make their bet and guess, must always increase ONLY their guess. The bet can either stay the same or the bet can go up. Both the bet and the guess cannot go down.
We have found it easier to explain by doing a practice round without making bets. Only guesses to get the hang of things!
Here is where it gets tricky for some. When you increase your guess, the total number of die in the next guess must be more than the previous guess. Which means you can guess a larger set of dice or a larger amount of die.
"I bet there are at least 3 ones on the table"
This player's guess means that they think there are at least that many die or more on the entire table.
Now the next player makes their guess by increasing the amount in some way. Any way that increases it!
"I bet there are at least 3 two's on the table"
or "I bet there are at least 4 one's on the table"
Notice how in the second example "...at least 4 one's" the player still guessed more but changed what kind of dice they think there is more of.
Now someone could guess something like this
"I bet there are at least 5 fours on the table!"
or "I bet there are at least 6 one's on the table"
